Best Kept Front Garden Competition

From time to time the Parish Council runs a competition to find the best kept front garden in Marcham. It was first run in 2000 and the aim is to encourage parishioners to improve the appearance and environment of our village.

There was no need to enter the competition - our judges walked round every street in the village and assessed the front gardens that can be seen by any passerby. The village is divided into four zones; the judges for each zone nominated a shortlist of three gardens which then went forward to the final round.

We asked two of the winners of our 2015 Front Garden Competition to be the judges for this final round, and they chose 17 Kings Avenue as the overall winner of our Best Kept Front Garden Competition for 2017.

The prizes and certificates were presented at the start of our meeting on 13 September 2017.

The Parish Council would like to thank W. Cumber & Son (Theale) Ltd, Slade Estate Services and The Crown Public House for their sponsorship and generosity in providing prizes that year.

However, owing to Covid, and a significant amount of new housing development taking place, a decision was made not to run the Competition for a while.   It is hoped to run this again in future years.
